Main Intersection in Broadalbin Village on Saratoga Avenue
Main Intersection in Broadalbin Village on Saratoga Avenue

The first village on NY Route 30 north of Amsterdam is Broadalbin. Okay, a purist could claim it's not on 30, but it's on old 30 and is only 3/4 mile from new 30. If you want to get to the village, after the light at NY Route 29, head north, but stay straight, don't turn left on NY 30, at the flashing yellow in Vails Mill. You will now be on Fulton County Road 155 east until the village line where it becomes Main Street at the 30 mph zone. The village center has a good "turn of the last century" look to it, but it could use a little sprucing up. It boasts a 24/7 laundromat and some nice resort places by the lake.
