General Stores

Like any other service, between north of Gloversville and south of Malone, about 160 miles, there are virtually no chain department stores or big pharmacies. The Adirondacks boasts the quintessential general store, often the only store in the hamlet. You can find groceries, food to go, gas, kero, hardware, tools, videos, clothes, camping supplies, guns and ammo, bait & tackle and the various sundries of woods life. They often have a dinette bar and are the heartbeat of their northwoods community. Unfortunately, their numbers are dwindling.
